roperties: Also known as (methyl chloroform), it is a colorless, tran***rent liquid with a slight ether-like odor. Content ¡Ý 97%. Melting point: -32.5℃ (varies slightly by source, e.g., -35℃). Boiling point: 74-76℃ (highly volatile). Insoluble in water; slightly soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and ether; readily soluble in volatile oils. Stable at room temperature and non-flammable (flash point approximately 35℃), but may decompose under high temperatures or intense light to produce toxic gases such as hydrogen chloride. Reacts with alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, and powders of active metals (e.g., magnesium, aluminum), which may trigger decomposition. In the presence of open flames, high heat, or intense light, it may burn, producing highly toxic phosgene and hydrogen chloride fumes.
Uses: It is a versatile organic solvent that can serve as a metal degreaser and cleaning agent for electronic components, precision instruments, and leak ***ection at metal welds. It can be formulated into flame-resistant coating materials, cutting fluid coolants, and low-toxicity, non-flammable adhesives. It is an intermediate in the production of organic compounds such as vinylidene chloride and 1,1,1,2-tetrachloroethane, and is used in the manufacture of chemicals such as monochloroacetic acid. It can act as an extractant for resins, dyes, and fragrances, and as a fiber ***ergent. It is also used as a dry cleaning solvent, aerosol propellant, printing press cleaner, and as a solvent for the polymerization of DAP resins with low surface tension. |
